Reading In Science

Science!

This week we learned about a meteorologist her name is Lynn Burse she predicted that a tornado would happen in her town. We read about her in a book called "Tornado!" she has a team and her team learns about weather every day, every day she looks at her computer at a map to see what kind of weather there is. One day Lynn Burse checked on her computer and saw that there was a storm coming her way her team knew that a storm could lead to a tornado.  Burse warned her team and they and she warned the people in their town.  When Burse and her team usually warned the people they warned only for 15 minutes, but this time they warned for 40 minutes. Now the tornado was over but her the people in they're town weren't hurt. This book was about a real life person and how she predicted that there was a tornado. Me and my class did something called citing evidence.  Also we learned something else called close reading that means reading really closely and seeing all the details and facts. We cited evidence in a book we learned how Lynn Burse predicted that there was going to be a tornado. She knew there was going to be a tornado by looking at the map she had on her computer,  Lynn Burse saw that there was a storm and she predicted that there was a tornado because she knew that storms might lead to tornado's.
